The old R. T. Varien homestead was located at the southern end of Marshan Township. This photo was submitted by R. J. Varien, who is the baby being held in the photo which dates back to 1911. R. T. Varien is dressed in white shirt to the right of the Cadillac. His wife Stella holds the baby. The farm’s gain stacks are pictured on the right. The nine horses handled many of the farm’s responsibilities. The barn has since burned down.
